We are passionately driven by our mission and vision.
By putting our clients and our team members above all else we ensure the very best care within a positive environment.
Evergreen Communication Therapy was founded by Brittany, a speech-language pathologist, and Shawna, a behaviour analyst, who believe that people with aphasia deserve more opportunities to rebuild communication after stroke or brain injury. After years of running community programs, we kept hearing the same message: people wanted more time, more intensity, and more support. Intensive aphasia therapy options were scarce. So we created a program that brings together evidence-based speech therapy and the intensive learning models used in behaviour analysis. Evergreen exists to help people with aphasia reconnect with communication and with the people in their lives.
Our Vision:
We believe that all individuals living with aphasia have the right to access communication opportunities, therapy, resources, and support to improve quality of life.
We Believe:
Communication is a basic human right. All people affected by aphasia have the same basic human rights as others, which includes the right to access these services and the pursuit of living a happy and fulfilling life.
Our Mission:
We are a collaborative team of professionals with a focus on providing evidence-based, relevant, functional therapy for individuals and their families affected by aphasia and other acquired communication disorders.
Individually and together we:
Are advocates for people affected by aphasia
Provide a respectful, supportive environment
Seek opportunities to reduce communication barriers and increase communication accessibility in our community and our practice
Speech-Language Pathologists
Our speech-language pathologists provide assessment, treatment and a variety of services, including: 1:1 therapy, small group therapy, and facilitate groups within our community aphasia programs.

I'm Brittany, an SLP and co-founder of Evergreen. I have spent 15 years doing aphasia work, the last 12 of those leading community programs that are honestly full of so much heart. I am passionate about aphasia advocacy and about making sure individuals and their families feel supported through something that is genuinely hard. Our intensive program is close to my heart because it brings together the best of what we know from behaviour science and speech-language pathology, and the outcomes we see remind me every time why this work matters.

I'm Vanessa, Program Coordinator at Evergreen, and I've been working with the aphasia programs since 2014. Before stepping into this role, I spent many years supporting people with aphasia as a Communicative Disorders Assistant, and that experience continues to guide my work every day. I'm passionate about raising awareness of aphasia and helping families, friends, and community members feel more confident using practical communication strategies that make conversations more accessible and inclusive. Outside of work, you'll usually find me spending time with my dogs, working out, or on the ice as a longtime synchronized skater.

I’m Debbie! I’ve always been fascinated by the power of communication - how a simple word can bridge a gap, heal, or spark joy. That curiosity led me to become a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant, where I’ve spent over six years helping children and adults overcome speech and language challenges. As an SLPA with a masters degree in Psychology and Bachelors in Speech language pathology, I work under the Speech Language Pathologist and am extremely passionate about supporting people with functional communication goals.
Fluent in Tamil, English, and Kannada, I connect with families from diverse backgrounds, ensuring they feel understood and supported. I’m a firm believer that progress, no matter how small, should always be celebrated.
When I’m not helping others communicate, I love singing, cooking, and exploring new therapy activities. Let’s make communication meaningful!

She/her
Hello! My name is Stephanie, and I am a Therapy Assistant at Evergreen, supporting adults living with aphasia and other communication changes following stroke and acquired brain injury.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth and have spent the past seven years supporting individuals across a variety of clinical and community settings. Throughout my career, I have developed a strong appreciation for the importance of individualized, person-centred care and the meaningful impact that compassionate support can have on someone's quality of life.
I am passionate about helping adults rebuild confidence in their communication, reconnect with the people and activities that matter most to them, and supporting their emotional well-being throughout the recovery journey. I believe that communication and mental health are deeply connected, and I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where each person feels heard, understood, and empowered.
Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, baking, and spending time with my husband. I also love travelling, making memories, and discovering new foods wherever I go!

She/her
I’m Jennifer, a Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant at Evergreen. I’ve been with Evergreen since 2022 and have been working with people with aphasia since 2024. My earlier training and experience in psychotherapy in the U.S. continues to shape my approach, bringing empathy, curiosity, and a strong client-centred focus to my work. I feel fortunate to support people as they rebuild confidence and reconnect through communication. Outside of work, I’m a mom to an energetic 9-year-old boy. We love hiking, fishing, and making the most of our time together, and when I’m home, you’ll usually find me baking or cooking. Sharing food is one of my favourite ways to show I care.
Social Worker
Working with clients and caregivers in an aphasia-friendly environment, our social worker aims to address mental health concerns and assists them in learning about supports in the community. She provides warm, empathetic, compassionate care and is highly skilled in supporting conversation for those with aphasia both 1:1 and in groups settings.

She/her
I'm Shawna, a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst and co-founder of Evergreen. I have spent over a decade applying the science of behaviour to support individuals with acquired and developmental disabilities, and aphasia work has become a true passion. I believe deeply that evidence-based teaching strategies can change what's possible for people living with communication challenges. As a mom of two young boys, I bring that same commitment to growth and connection into everything I do. When I'm not working, you'll find me reading or just being present with my boys.

She/her
I provide psychotherapy to adults, stroke survivors, caregivers, and families navigating life with aphasia and acquired communication disorders. Drawing on over a decade of interdisciplinary clinical experience, I support clients through evidence-based approaches grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, relational attachment work, and trauma-informed care. As a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and have extensive experience supporting individuals living with aphasia, acquired brain injury, anxiety, developmental trauma, and other neurological disabilities.
What makes my approach a little different is my background. Before specializing in psychotherapy, I worked as both a Communicative Disorders Assistant and a Registered Behaviour Technician, which means I understand the clinical side of aphasia deeply and bring that perspective into every session. I also provide caregiver training and consultation, because the people supporting someone with aphasia need support too.
When I'm not in session you can find me dancing, listening to music, or playing the daily Wordle. All things that keep me grounded for the work I genuinely love doing.
